Crime Scene Investigation Project
In this project we had a crime scene for us to investigate. We took pictures of the evidence that was preset and the crime scene. Next we were given the evidence so that we could find if there are any finger prints present on what was found at the crime scene. We were latter given the prints of the suspects so that were possible connected to the crime. That then narrowed it down the suspects, this made it easier for us to find out who had did it. In the end we analyzed the blood with the suspect and the victim with blood found at the suspects home. It was found out that the blood was the suspects. Later both the stepson and the wife had admitted to the murder of the victim.
My favorite part of this project was that it was really hands on compared to other projects since we had a actual crime to look at and take evidence from. I learned the most about finger printing, I had never known that there were different types of finger prints. Also how they were found.
If I were to do this again I would probable try to do better on the evidence log forms than I had done before. Also I would try to use my time better when I was doing my forms.

Biology Project Reflection
1. For this project I started out with with choosing a topic that was interesting to me. This was so that I would want to do the work and find other ways of taking care of the black bear problems. First I looked at ideas that could work for my topic, which after help from Colleen I came up with a management plan consisting of diversion feeding, aversive conditioning, and habitat restoration. Next was to find information on them and who would do these things. Last was to find pictures and out it all together and make it look good.
2. In my management the strongest part of it would be the habitat restoration because it takes less time then aversive conditioning and more time then the diversion feeding. Also that it is more likely to work because it doesn't come with cons like the other ones have. It also is more do able then the others because you have less to worry about then the others.
3. The main skill that I learned was to find the research. When I first started I had a hard time trying to find info that would work for my topic. When I started to work more I was able to find what I was trying to find. What I learned about ecology was that the without black bears to spreed berry seeds there would be less berry bushes around and would make it so that other animals that eat the berries would not have that food to eat. In this project it made me think about how we can deal with the black bears then to just kill them all or to relocate them form hear, the place that they live. They were hear first we took their land from them.

Human-Black Bear Conflict
We have many problems in America but one of them is the problem that is the humans is human-black bear conflict, this is when black bears come into neighborhoods looking for food and find garbage cans full of snacks free for their taking. Why this is happening is because of people for having pour trash management leading to the bears coming to the full garbage cans. Also due to habitat loss do to development and mega fires taking their homes away from them making them wander into your neighborhood. Last is a lack of natural food supply cause also by the mega fires and do to droughts making it so that there is not enough growing for them to eat. The main places that this happens is in mountain towns were black bears live. This problem started in the 1920’s when people went to nature parks and feed the bears. Also in August- October before they go into hibernation, so they try to get more food. The ones involved are the bears the residents, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Bear smart Durango.

Management Plan
1. Diversion Feeding of black bears
There has been problems with black bears coming into town looking for food but this makes it so that they will not come into town for food because food will be in the forest for them.
A. Details
This would be putting food in the forest for the bears to find that is out of the way of hunters not to find.
People in the area that think that it would work to keep the bears out of town and to keep them to selves.
This aims to stop bears from coming into towns looking for food and causing trouble for the houses around the area.
This can be done where ever there are black bears and a forest to hide the food. These feeding stations should be set up deep in the forest so that the bears get used to being deep in the forest.( bear smart)
The food will be donated by the people that are most affected by bears because they will want them to leave. The food would be berries, nuts and some meats like rabbits or fish because these are foods black bears eat.
B. Benefits
The benefits of this plan is that is will make it so that bears become used to having food in the forest that they don’t come in to town looking for it.
C. Cons
The cons to this plan is that if the bears become to used to having food that they just wait were the food is hidden.
2. Aversive Conditioning
This plan would make so that is a black bear were to come into town people would be able to scar them off easily and have them not return for a while.
A. Details
Training bears to leave from certain things like rubber bullets or bean bags and some other objects.(bear smart)
This would make it so that if you run at a bear of were to shoot a rubber bullet or a bean bag at it, it would run away.
This could employees of the DOW since it involves the harassment and molestation of the bears which belongs to the state. This aims to make it so that bears are more likely to run away from people that don’t want the bears on their property.
This can be done in towns like Durango because we have black bears around town and it would help people keep bears away from their homes.
B. Benefits
With this plan it would make it so that people that have bears come into their neighborhoods can scare the bears away easily instead of having to call someone.
C. Cons
The cons for this plan is that it takes time to condition bears and it works better on bears that have not been food conditioned to human food and it doesn’t work so well on younger ones.
3. Habitat Restoration
Taking a old part of land and restoring it for bears to live in so that they would not come in to town looking for food, they would have a area to have food and live.
A. Details
This would make it so that bears would have some where they can live so that they won’t be bothered and or go into towns.
This can be done by people that are tired of bears coming into town and feel that the bears are coming into town because they don’t have enough room for them to live and or enough resources for the to eat.
This aims to make is so that bears have a home that they can live in away from people.
This can be done in a forest area where the habitat that is in bad shape and in need of a purpose which will need a plan for restoration. We would need to put in trees and fruit plants so that the bears would have food when they need it. This would be done by people that care about keeping the bears out of town but want them to have a good home to stay in. There would be berries planted for the bears to eat and nuts also for them to eat.
B. Benefits
This plan would make it so that bears could have land that would not be disturbed and that they would have a place for food to grow.
C. Cons
The problems with this is that it would take time and the bears might not like it all that much.
