For my first day I started to learn about doing takeoffs on plans, which is when you find how much of everything you will need. So I was looking at a set of plans and finding out how much of everything would be needed for that job. Also I helped with invoices with Bruce in the front so I was helping organize and find missing invoices and make sure they are where they need to be. I also helped the back of the shop a little with organization when there wad not much to do.

For today I was learning how to use a computer program called cobra, this program is used for a lot of different things. This one program is used for making estamits and has all the prices for every material and tool that is needed , also it is used for keeping jobs organized, this would be having the budget and amount used and man hours all to togeather so that all you would have to do is search the job number and everything is right there. Using this I was opening space from old things for new stuff to come in and take the old spots for materials.at the end of my day I sat in on a meeting with a contractor about a house to be built.

Today I started with working on the takeoffs for the house that was from the meeting for yesterday, so I counted all the lights, fans, smoke detectors and ect, that was to be used on this job. Once I was do with the stuff that I knew I worked with my mentor Charlie and he helped me with the nother things that had to be add to the estimate, like temporary power and the service. Once every thing was counted I put the material number, the amount needed and the distance and cobra gave me everything I needed for that item to be made and installed. After that we worked on getting all the options for the job in and added everything togeather to get a total on the estamit, it turned out to be around a 15,000 dollar job just for electrical to be done.

Today I manly helped out in use back of the shop due to one of the servers being down there wasn't much for me to do.

Today I started out with going out with Charlie to look at a couple of different jobs and meet with a couple of people. So I got to see how unpredictable his job can be some times and how much running around there is in every day work. Also I was working in cobra up dating the secdualing for the jobs that are currently active, I was undating the man hours used and the budgets and the amount used on the job currently.

Today I worked on getting my stuff togeather for my project and sat in on a couple of meetings with clients and other people that the shop is working with. Also I worked on transferring electrical on plans to a different page and worked on adding to the electrical that would be needed for the building.

Today I did a site vist to the building of the plans that I had been working on the previous day, so I was able to see what was going to change. Also I finished work on the plans that I had been working on for a couple of days.

Today I went to a service call at the comfort inn, they were having some lighting problems in the pool area, so we fixed that and looked at some other stuff that would need to work on on a nother day. When we returned to the show I took all the amounts of electrical needed for the plans I have been working in and imputed it into the computers to have it saved for later when it would be needed.
